The FY-2012 H-1B Cap has been reached. As of November 22, 2011, USCIS had received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the annual cap of 65,000 for fiscal year 2012 (FY2012). Effective immediately (November 14, 2011), the Department of State (DOS) has temporarily halted student visa issuance (F visas, M visas and J visas) at all US Embassies and Consulates around the world. DOS has recently identified difficulties with its Consolidated Consular Database (CCD) communicating with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program’s (SEVP) Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The FY-2012 H-1B cap is approaching fast with about 8,000 FY-2012 H-1B cap subject visas remaining for the current fiscal year (FY-2012) as of November 18, 2011. As of November 18, 2011, USCIS had received approximately 61,800 H-1B petitions counting toward the 65,000 annual FY-2012 H-1B cap and approximately 20,000 petitions toward the 20,000 FY-2012 H-1B cap exemption for individuals with advanced degrees. more »
As of November 02, 2011, USCIS had received approximately 50,800 H-1B petitions counting toward the 65,000 FY-2012 H-1B cap, and approximately 20,000 petitions toward the 20,000 FY-2012 H-1B cap exemption for individuals with a masters degree or higher from a US higher educational institution. The FY-2012 H-1B cap is filling up fast, so employers who wish to hire H-1B workers with a start date prior to October 01, 2012, should file their H-1B petitions as soon as possible.
The US Consulate Mumbai moves in November 2011 from Lincoln House in Breach Candy and the American Center in Churchgate to its new facility in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The new US Consulate Mumbai at BKC reflects the expansion in US-India relations, and features expanded space for consulate operations.
