EB-2 Retrogression India, China: May 2012

Due to the rapid forward movement of the EB-2 cut-off date in recent months, demand for China and India EB-2 numbers increased dramatically during that period, and at a much faster rate than the US Department of State (USDOS) expected. Therefore, they have retrogressed the EB-2 cut-off date to August 15, 2007, in an attempt to hold number use within annual limits while maintaining availability for countries that have not yet reached their EB-2 per-country limit. more »

As of April 9, 2012,¬†USCIS had received approximately 17,400 FY2013 H-1B petitions subject to the 65,000 cap for regular petitions (for beneficiaries without a US advanced degree), and approximately 8,200 FY2013 H-1B petitions subject to the 20,000 cap exemption for individuals with US advanced degrees. more »

FY2013 H-1B Petitions Double Those Received in FY2012

As of April 4, 2012, USCIS had received 22,323 FY2013 cap-subject H-1B petitions for employment start dates beginning October 1, 2012 (fiscal year 2013, or FY2013, begins October 1, 2012, and ends September 30, 2013). Approximately 25% of these FY2013 H-1B petitions are for H-1B beneficiaries with US advanced degrees. According to USCIS figures, the number of H-1B petitions received in the first few days of the FY2013 H-1B season is double the number of petitions received during the first week of April 2011, FY2012 (the current fiscal year 2012, which runs October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012). more »
