Through the DV Green Card Lottery, the US provides up to 55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to allow immigration for individuals from countries with low admissions to the US during the previous 5 years. The program reserves DV visas for winners of the annual DV Green Card Lottery. The charts below from the NOVEMBER 2023 Visa Bulletin show DV Green Card Lottery Cut-Off numbers. These list the Immigrant Visa Numbers available to DV2024 selectees as of NOVEMBER 2023 and DECEMBER 2023.
NACARA stipulates that, beginning with DV99, and for as long as necessary, the US will make up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas available for use under NACARA. The DV2024 annual limit is 54,850. Individuals who were born in 6 geographic regions are eligible for the DV visa. To ensure diversity, no nationals of no one country are eligible for more than 7% of diversity visas in any one year.
For DECEMBER, immigrant numbers in the DV Green Card Lottery category are available to qualified DV2024 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. If a cut-off number appears below, only applicants with DV2024 regional lottery rank numbers BELOW the specified allocation cut-off number qualify.
Entitlement to immigrant status in the DV category lasts only through the end of the fiscal year of DV selection. The year of entitlement for all DV2024 green card lottery applicants ends September 30, 2024. Therefore, the US will not issue DV visas to DV2024 applicants after that date. Likewise, spouses and children accompanying or following to join principals qualify for derivative DV status only until September 30, 2024. Please note that numbers may be exhausted prior to September 30, 2024.
For NOVEMBER, immigrant numbers in the DV Green Card Lottery category are available to qualified DV applicants chargeable to all regions and eligible countries as follows. The presence of an allocation cut-off number means that visas are available only for applicants with DV2024 regional lottery rank numbers BELOW specified cut-off dates.
Entitlement to DV immigrant status lasts only through the end of the fiscal (visa) year for which a DV applicant is selected. The DV2024 fiscal year ends September 30, 2024, so the US may not issue DV2024 visas after that.
Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV principals may receive DV status until September 30, 2024. So, please note that DV numbers may be exhausted before September 30.
